"Battle Theme" is a musical theme in Paper Mario: Sticker Star, where it plays while battling normal enemies throughout the game. This theme features a melody similar to "Ribbon Road" from Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
This theme features a dynamically changing intro depending on overworld gameplay, with a triumphant intro playing if Mario first strikes, and a distorted intro if the opponent does. This gimmick originates from the first Paper Mario game and returns after being absent from the previous two entries.
Additional distorted variants of all intros exist for when Mario enters a battle while low on health.
History[edit]
Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]
Paper Mario: Sticker Star marks the first appearance of "Battle Theme", the game also features many arrangements.
An identical arrangement with distorted instrumentation can play when Mario has 5 health or less.
An arrangement titled "My Things"[1] plays during cutscenes involving Bowser Jr.. It is a jazzy theme arranged in the minor key and predominantly features electric guitar.
Another similar arrangement also arranged in the minor key, plays while fighting Bowser Jr, and has an additional distorted variant of it's own for when Mario is below 5 HP.
