"Barrel Hop"[1] is a five-note musical sound effect composed by Yukio Kaneoka for Donkey Kong, where it plays upon earning points within a level and when collecting a Hammer. It is somewhat similar to the "Round 1 and 2 Clear" jingle from the same game.

In WarioWare: D.I.Y., "Barrel Hop" can be selected from the "8-Bit" category as a sound effect to be used in microgames. The sound effect returns in WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase in the Wreck. Crew microgame.

Super Mario Odyssey[edit]

In Super Mario Odyssey, an arrangement of "Barrel Hop" is incorporated into the song "Jump Up, Super Star!" at the very end of the "Odyssey, ya see!" section. In the soundtrack version, the melody is slightly altered and features a harmony. In the in-game version, which plays in the mission "A Traditional Festival!", it is played more faithfully and alongside a piano, titled "NDC Festival" in the game's sound test and "Jump Up, Super Star! - New Donk City Festival" in the Nintendo Music app.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate features a medley arrangement titled "Donkey Kong / Donkey Kong Jr. Medley" arranged by Yusuke Takahama, which can play in any Super Smash Bros.-series or Donkey Kong-series stage. It features arrangements of several themes from Donkey Kong and its sequel Donkey Kong Jr., including "Barrel Hop" 52 and 57 seconds in.

Mario Kart World[edit]

In Mario Kart World, an arrangement of "Barrel Hop" plays when activating the Jump Panels on DK Spaceport.

The theme that plays during the game's staff credits incorporates an arrangement of "Barrel Hop" directly before the "DK Spaceport" section. It is titled "Staff Credits" in the Nintendo Music app.

Donkey Kong Bananza[edit]

Donkey Kong Bananza features three arrangements of "Barrel Hop".

The theme that plays in Radiance Layer Challenge Course 3: Arcade Country is a medley arrangement of several themes from Donkey Kong, including "Barrel Hop" approximately 36 seconds and 1 minute and 8 seconds in. It is titled "2D Challenge Course #4" in the game's sound test and "2D Challenge Course #4 (25m)" in the Nintendo Music app.

The song that plays during the game's staff credits incorporates a piano arrangement of "Barrel Hop" approximately 4 minutes and 7 seconds in, during the "It was pounding in hopes that this day would come" verse. It is titled "Breaking Through (Heart of Gold)" in the game's sound test and the Nintendo Music app.

An arrangement of "Barrel Hop" also plays during Emerald Rush of the Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC, when getting an emerald multiplier of over x10000 from defeating enemies or destroying objects that releases emerald ore.

At the Super Nintendo World theme park, an arrangement of "Barrel Hop" plays after successfully routing the Green Shell to the POW Block in the Koopa Troopa POWer Punch challenge.[2]
