Stage 1-8 is the eighth original in the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong, and the eighth and final level of Big-City. It is also the first Donkey Kong battle.

Layout[edit]

Mario starts on a long platform with two small walls on each side. There are also four platforms on the left and right sides leading up to the platform Donkey Kong is on in the middle, with a platform above him with Pauline on it.

Enemies[edit]

Battle[edit]

The battle with Donkey Kong is simple. Mario must avoid the Barrels then one will hit an object and be up straight and that is when Mario can pick one up then make his way up to where Donkey Kong is standing while avoiding more barrels and throw the barrel at the ape. Barrels can go left, right, or straight down when thrown by Donkey Kong then once one hits the ground or the walls on each side they will be up straight though if they hit another barrel both barrels will break. Mario must throw three barrels at Donkey Kong to defeat him and once it is done, Donkey Kong will be defeated but he will get up and take Pauline away.

Cutscene after level completion[edit]

Donkey Kong, like in the last cutscene, runs across a bridge over a pit, then stops and puts Pauline down to pull a switch that deactivates the bridge to halt Mario just as he arrives. There is another lever on the other side which he pulls to reactivate the bridge; Donkey Kong, shocked at this, continues running with Mario continuing to chase him, which leads them into the Forest before the cutscene ends. This cutscene introduces levers and how to use them. The player is then given lives based on their score.
