Mario using Focus

Focus is a command in Paper Mario that recovers Mario's Star Power each time it is used. Mario learns it after he defeats the Koopa Bros. and frees Eldstar, the elderly Star Spirit. Focus increases Mario's Star Power by half a bar; this value can be increased by an additional 1/4 of a bar for each Deep Focus badge Mario has equipped. If the Group Focus badge is equipped, Mario's partner will be able to use the Focus command as well. Peach also uses this move when Twink is fighting Kammy Koopa, where it raises Twink's Attack and Defense Power by 1 each turn it is used.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Focus was replaced by Appeal, a similar move that charges Star Power based on the audience makeup.
