Lily is a water lily that lives in Flower Fields in Paper Mario. During Huff N. Puff's invasion, Lily's pond runs dry, leaving her stranded on the ground. Without water, Lily would wither and die, so she tasks Mario to obtain the Water Stone, which gives an endless supply of water and was stolen by two Lakitus to increase the power of the Puff Puff Machine. The stone was eventually found by Rosie, a self-centered rose spirit, who was willing to return it to Lily if given something even more beautiful. After receiving the Crystal Berry from Posie and giving it to Rosie, the player can return to Lily and give her back the stone, obtaining Miracle Water in the process.
