Jogo Super Mario RPG is a board game themed after Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars that was released exclusively in Brazil by Estrela in 1997. The object of the game - which is similar to that of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System game on which it is based - is to defeat Exor.

Details[edit]

One of the players takes the role of Mario (referred to as "Mario Bros." on the back of the box[1]), while the other takes the role of an enemy character. The player in the role of Mario is to draw three cards from the deck, and then move around the board in order to find coins, Mushrooms, and Super Stars, which are needed in order to fight Exor. During this player's turn, they are to discard one of their cards. Each card features a different move that Mario can make, such as advancing a select number of spaces, jumping to another space, attacking an enemy, or moving one of his party members in order to eliminate an enemy temporarily. When the player in the role of the enemy fights the player in the role of Mario, they are able to advance a maximum of two spaces on their turn to try to catch the other player.

If the player in the role of the enemy catches other player, they swap roles. The player in the role of Mario now plays as the enemy characters, and the player in the role of the enemy characters plays as Mario. If this occurs, the player now in the role of Mario is to discard the cards in their hand and draw three new cards. If the player in the role of Mario collects three Mushrooms or three Super Stars, they have the opportunity to fight Exor. They will have to choose between multiple cards, with the goal being to find a completed sword. If they do so, they win the game. If they end up losing a Super Star or a Mushroom, they swap roles with the other player. The game continues until the complete sword is found by one of the players.
