Super Mario Bros. Iroha Karuta is a matching card game released by Sumitomo Marine & Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. in the 1980s. The game is themed after Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels[1], and features original illustrations based on said game.

Details[edit]

The game appears to be played identically to typical Iroha Karuta, in that players are to read a caption off a card and then grab the card depicting the corresponding illustration. Many cards depict Mario and Luigi, while others depict Princess Peach or various enemies found in Super Mario Bros. Some of the captions found on the cards are listed below.

  • Mario and Luigi, the friendly brothers.
  • Blast through everything as Invincible Mario.
  • Luigi's specialty: the high jump.
  • A Buzzy Beetle wearing its iron helmet.
  • ''Goombas, weak little villains.
