“There's a hollow, clacky noise in the SNES version of this track… Can you guess what it is? It's the percussion loop in "Welcome to Yo'ster Isle!" with its pitch modulated. Back then, we had to come up with ways to reuse samples since data space was so limited. I felt it'd be a waste to only use something once, which led to me creating this track.”
Yoko Shimomura, Liner notes in Super Mario RPG Original Sound Box

"Battling a Weapon Boss"[1] is a musical theme composed by Yoko Shimomura for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, where it plays during the boss battles against members of the Smithy Gang and their Machine Made counterparts.

In the Nintendo Switch remake of Super Mario RPG, an orchestral arrangement of "Battling a Weapon Boss" plays for the same purpose as in the original game. Additional percussion is added to the instrumentation whenever the Chain reaches five. If the music is set to the "Classic" setting, the original version of the theme will play instead. The new orchestral arrangement is also included in the official albums Super Mario RPG Original Soundtrack, Super Mario RPG Original Sound Box, and Super Mario RPG Original Sound Vinyl Box. In the Super Mario RPG Original Sound Box album, the additional percussion from the Chain remix is added to the instrumentation for the second loop of the theme.
