Fire Shell is Kooper's ultimate attack in Paper Mario, learned by leveling Kooper to the Ultra Rank. To use this move, the player must use five FP and then repeatedly tilt the Control Stick (Control Stick) to the left to fill the gauge. All ground-based enemies will then be hit by the attack, receiving up to six points of damage. This move is also imbued with the fire element, allowing it to deal extra damage to certain enemies (e.g., Frost Piranhas, White Clubbas, and Dry Bones), but also none to those immune to fire (e.g., Clefts, Buzzy Beetles, Chomps, and Lava Bubbles). Furthermore, this move will permanently defeat Dry Bones, and make bomb-type enemies (e.g., Bob-ombs) explode and defeat themselves instantly.

Fire Shell was going to reappear in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, as a move performed by Koops, since an unused attack description reads: "Hits enemies with a fiery shell." Instead, Shell Slam functions similarly.
