Sammer's Kingdom
The beginning of the battle.

This is a comprehensive list of all 100 Sammer Guys from Super Paper Mario. The majority of Sammer Guys have a name which is a pun on something Nintendo-related.

Sammer's Kingdom (Rounds 1-25)

Jade Blooper

“I am known as Jade Blooper, Keeper of the first-- Wait, you are that challenger from before! You fled this land like a crying whelp... The hole in the sky is gone, but the challenge stands until a victor is found! If you desire the king's treasure, step forth and challenge my skill. Leave the palace before the 100th fight ends, and your progress will be lost. And with it, your family's HONOR!”
Jade Blooper, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 1st gate. His name is a reference to Bloopers, while the "Jade" part may refer to his green armor. It is implied that most, if not all, undertakers of the Duel of 100 fall to him, as he recognizes the player as the hero of legend immediately upon defeat. Despite this, other Sammer Guys imply that they have battled other challengers. He smells rather fishy and often talks about honor and shame.

Hills With Eyes

I SEE YOU! Look upon Hill with Eyes, keeper of the 2nd gate! You run along the earth, attacking immobile blocks... AND I SEE YOU! You leap above deep pits, dodging wandering beasts... AND I WATCH YOU! Soon you will fall in battle by my merciless hand... AND I LAUGH AT YOU!”
Hill With Eyes, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 2nd gate. His name may be a reference to the various hills and other background objects that have a set of eyes, but possibly also to the film The Hills Have Eyes. He claims to always be watching the player. Sometime before the events of Super Paper Mario, he lost a staring contest to King Sammer and hasn't recovered from it ever since.

Puffing Fist

“An opponent blows in... My name floats like a ill wind, for I am Puffing Fist, guardian of the 3rd gate! I can send the mightiest opponent to his doom with a single strike! Pwaaaaaang!”
Puffing Fist, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 3rd gate, and also the first jumping Sammer Guy. His name may have some relation to Huff N. Puff, a cloud with fists. This is supported by his references to a "Cloud Temple". He claims to use his remaining vacation days for his training at the cloud temple upon being defeated.

Squatting Birdo

“Soon, challenger, you will scream in terror at the name of the FLIGHTLESS BIRD! For I am Squatting Birdo, ever-hunkering guardian of the 4th gate! Now you will know the fury of the most deadly fighting style. Birdo...SQUAT!”
Squatting Birdo, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 4th game, and also the first Sammer Guy with a mace. His name is a reference to Birdos, though it may also be a reference to how the names of Ostros and Birdos were mixed up in the Super Mario Bros. 2 credits as he mentions they are a type of flightless bird. He is the first Sammer Guy to employ a Ninjoe. He is heard to be the true master of the Squatting Birdo stance according to Tippi's/Tiptron's tattle.

Leeping Cheep

“Tell me, challenger, have you ever tried to catch a jumping fish with your bare hands? You will know the frustration soon, for I am Leeping Cheep, keeper of the 5th gate! The Cheep Cheep soars in the air and strike sits prey like a fishy tsunami!”
Leeping Cheep, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 5th gate, and also the first spiked Sammer Guy. His name is a reference to Cheep-Cheeps, specifically the jumping variant. After being defeated, he is upset that his Cheep Cheeps couldn't have helped him in the fight. Outside of fighting in the Duel of 100, he is often seen attempting to jump into the water.

Master Wiggler

“Before we fight, consider this haiku... "A challenger comes... Under the darkening sky... Wiggity wiggle..." Master Wiggler wiggles in defense of the 6th gate... WIGGLE WIGGLE WIGGLE!”
Master Wiggler, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 6th gate. His name is a reference to Wigglers. He speaks in haiku before and after his fight; he says "haikus" and "wiggle" frequently.

Shoe of Kuribo

STOMPOW! I am Shoe of Kuribo! I protect the 7th gate! STOMPOW! Some try to tiptoe past me like little fancy slippers! I stomp them! STOMPOW! Shoe stomps all! STOMPOW! Shoe of Kuribo will tread on you! STOMPOW!”
Shoe of Kuribo, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 7th gate. His name is a reference to Goomba's Shoe, which was originally called "Kuribo's Shoe". He has a habit of saying "STOMPOW!" often. He often changes his shoes every month.

Guy Who Fry

YOU FRY NOW! I am Guy Who Fry, master of Dripping Magma Punch, guard of the 8th gate. I see your eyes burn with purpose. Will I torch you today? Or will your burning desire to win extinguish me? I say... YOU FRY NOW!”
Guy Who Fry, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 8th gate. His name is a pun on Fryguy. He claims to be the master of the "Dripping Magma Punch". His tattle states that he his diet is deep-fried foods.

Screaming Mantis

“YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZK! The shrill shriek of the SCREEEAAAAMING MANTISSSS paralyzes you at gate 9! You are motionless with fear! Now I prey on your face! YEZZZZZZZZZK!”
Screaming Mantis, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 9th gate. His name is a spoof on an unrelated Mario animal, the praying mantis. As his name implies, he shrieks and screams quite often, so much so that he must take lozenges when his throat gets hoarse.

Koopa in Winter

“And so you come at last... like a young bloom poking through an early spring snow. I am called Koopa in Winter. I wait, immobile, by the 10th gate. The plant that blooms early freezes and perishes...and so, too, shall you!”
Koopa in Winter, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy A Big Sammer Guy who is the guardian of the 10th gate, named after Koopa Troopas. For unknown reasons, he cries every time he looks at a sunset, although it may be because since his name implies that he is a being of snow, the tears represent him "melting".

Footsteps of Coins

“The 11th gate... A place of power. And here you find Footsteps of Coins! Tell me, warrior, do you walk with your eyes open? Do you see many coins? Coins in blocks, coins on clouds... Everywhere there are coins glittering. it is I who leave them. It is I who wander the wide world, coins falling from my heels. Does this mean other should pick up my coins? OF COURSE NOT! The coins are mine alone! And now, I will make change out of YOU! CHA-CHING!
Footsteps of Coins, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 11th gate. He asks the duelists if they ever wondered who put the coins all over the place. He claims that it is him, and that it isn't right for anyone to be taking his coins all the time. He also has a lesser-known brother called Footsteps of Meat. This could be a reference to a side-scrolling mini-game from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door in which the player controls Bowser in a Super Mario Bros. setting, collecting pieces of meat as power-ups.

Urchin Lung

“So, you challenge your skill in the Duel of 100? I am the guardian of the 12th gate... Urchin Lung. Hah hah. So... You must be wondering, "How many more of these guys must I fight?" FOOL! There are 88 more of us! Does your resolve falter? Do you have what it takes? It is a relentless marathon of martial artistry! Now, come at me!”
Urchin Lung, Super Paper Mario

Crow Who Eats

Crow Who Eats, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 13th gate, and also the first red Sammer Guy. His name refers to "eating crow," meaning to be proven wrong after taking a strong position, which is proven by the fact that, upon defeat, he actually states that it is "he who must eat crow." He likes to taunt his opponents, which gets awkward whenever he loses.

Swollen Tongue

“Hewwo, pwaything! I am Swollen Tongue, master of the 14th gate... Flear me! You shall not gas! Wait, I mean gwass! I mean...PASS! Oh, who cares! Lettuce fight! Gahh!”
Swollen Tongue, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 14th gate. He is a Green Sammer Guy with a mustache and a spike. He often makes malapropisms because of his bad tongue (for example, when he wants to say "Bye now!" he says "Buy now!"). His malapropisms usually make his traditional pre-battle taunts a little hard for him.

Slipping Grip

“The foe you face next is Slipping Grip, fearless guardian of the 15th gate. I am a new student of the Sweaty Palm Martial Arts Academy... But I recently passed my Slapatology exam with the highest marks! Now it is you who reap the benefits of my industrious note taking!”
Slipping Grip, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 15th gate, and the second best student at the Sweaty Palm Martial Arts Academy. The two Sammer Guys after him are his brothers, Clammy Hand and Forbidden Slap, and like him, are blue with a mustache. Could possibly be a reference to early Wii players losing grip of their controllers due to sweaty palms.

Clammy Hand

“So you have defeated my brother... I am the second most famous student of the Sweaty Palm Martial Arts Academy... You have no doubt seen me in the academy newsletter. Guarding the 16th gate is my senior project. I WILL NOT FAIL!”
Clammy Hand, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 16th gate, and the brother of Slipping Grip and Forbidden Slap. Clammy Hand is also in Sweaty Palms Martial Arts Academy. His clammy grip can sometimes makes his first introductions awkward.

Forbidden Slap

“I am Forbidden Slap, former top student of the sweaty Palm Martial Arts Academy... But I was expelled for learning forbidden slapping techniques from dark tomes. Now I wield history's most feared and reviled sword slaps!”
Forbidden Slap, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 17th gate. He used to be top student at Sweaty Palm academy, but was expelled for using forbidden slapping techniques too many times. The two Sammer Guys before him, Slipping Grip and Clammy Hand are his brothers; in the end, they convince him to rejoin the academy, though it is unknown if he succeeds.

Hairy Arantula in the Grass

“Come closer! I am just a harmless leaf on the trimmed lawn of the 18th gate... HAAACHHH! NO! I am Hairy Arantula in the Grass! I leap on your head and bite your earlobe! HAAACHHH!
Hairy Arantula in the Grass, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 18th gate, and also the first Small Sammer Guy. His name is a reference to Arantulas. He often likes to scare people in the park while hiding in the grass.

Another Castle

“Stoic and impenetrable, Another Castle stands vigil over the 19th gate... Many challengers attempt to lay siege on me. All leave in tears. Tire yourself all you like pummeling my stony abdomen... I WILL NOT FALL!”
Another Castle, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guaridan of the 19th gate. His name is a reference to Toad's famous saying, "Thank you, Mario. But our Princess is in another castle!" (even saying "Well done...but your prize is in another castle... Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha." once he's defeated). He takes his name very seriously, to the point where he once dug a moat around himself.

SMOOOSH! TO ROLLING THWOMP, THERE IS ONE THING BEST IN LIFE... ROLLING. SQUISH! I ROLL OVER YOU AND MAKE YOU FLAT LIKE SHEET OF PAPER!”
Rolling Thwomp, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 20th gate, and also the second Big Sammer Guy. His name might refer to Spiny Tromps or Spindels. He is a big Sammer Guy that likes to roll all over the place, which is one of his main attacks. When Mario and Co. first visit, he is the last Sammer Guy fought before Count Bleck appears, and is the one who runs off to try and warn King Sammer. His tattle states that he loves kittens a lot.

Thrashing Prawn

“The guardian of the 21st gate simmers in hot, savory fury! I am THRASHING PRAWN! You will never pierce my briny husk! I will flail mercilessly at your face with tiny arms!”
Thrashing Prawn, Super Paper Mario

I will fight you, but know that you do not face my full soaring wrath!”
Soaring Cape, Super Paper Mario

Template:Sammerguy The guardian of the 27th gate. He is a reference to the Cape, first used by Cape Mario in Super Mario World. Soaring Cape claims to have a cape enabling him to fly, which he often uses in public, but it was apparently shrunk and is now unusable during the events of the game.

He serves as the lead singer for a popular heavy Sammer band.

Mystical Whistle

“The 29th gate. A place of gossip and legend. Here you find Mystical Whistle. I am here, deep in the Duel of 100, to keep my intoxicating power safe. He says that he is always laughing on the outside, but crying on the inside. His favorite TV shows to watch are comedies.
