"Battle - Magnus von Grapple" is a musical theme in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It plays during the battle against Magnus von Grapple, and quotes from "Behold! Magnus von Grapple!" for its main melody.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door marks the first appearance of "Battle - Magnus von Grapple." In addition to the fight against Magnus in the Great Tree, it also plays during the battle against Lord Crump in Keelhaul Key, and Magnus von Grapple 2.0 in X-Naut Fortress.

The Nintendo Switch remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door introduces three new arrangements of "Battle - Magnus von Grapple," each of which play during the aforementioned three fights.

  • "Battle - Magnus von Grapple" plays during the battle against Magnus von Grapple in the Great Tree. This is a faithful arrangement of the original theme done in an orchestral rock style. It also includes a new segment not heard in the original theme before looping.
  • "Event Battle - Lord Crump" plays during the battle against Lord Crump in Keelhaul Key. This arrangement has a focus on wood and electric instruments, accompanied by brass.
  • "Battle - Magnus von Grapple 2.0" plays during the battle against Magnus von Grapple 2.0 in X-Naut Fortress. This is a rave arrangement done with electronic and synthetic instruments.

In addition to the above arrangements, each version has a "(Think)" variation that plays while selecting actions during Mario and his partner's turn. These are similar to the normal renditions, but have fewer instruments.

If the Nostalgic Tunes badge is equipped, all variations will be changed to the original version of "Battle - Magnus von Grapple" from the Nintendo GameCube version.
