Armored Harriers, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

The Armored Harriers (a.k.a. The Iron Adonis Twins) are two Iron Clefts that appear in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

The Armored Harriers are ranked 10th in Glitzville's Glitz Pit. They harbor a huge grudge against Mario after Grubba tells them some rather nasty trash talks that he accredits to Mario (namely the reference to outies running in the family, since their mother apparently had an outie). The Armored Harriers are made of iron that Mario can't break through. He is only able to defeat these two Iron Clefts with the help of Mini-Yoshi, who is able to take an enemy into his mouth with his tongue and spit them back at the other enemy. One of them wears red shoes, while the other wears green shoes, implying that the former is older. This type of red and green reference appears often in the Mario franchise.

After Mario and his allies beat the Armored Harriers, the two warriors are downgraded to the Minor League. They form a grudge against Mario and attempt revenge by ambushing the plumber after he duels the Tiny Spinies. Although weakened and surprised, Mario defeats the Armored Harriers a second time.

When Mario has to visit the Minor League locker room while searching for the Dubious Paper, the Armored Harriers become very upset.

Despite the twins' grudge against Mario, they, along with Jolene, KP Pete, Rawk Hawk, and a few others cheer him on in his battle against the Shadow Queen. It seems though that they let the grudge go, realizing Grubba lied, but still see Mario as a rival.

Field Tattles[edit]

  • That's the older of the Iron Adonis Twins. You can tell he's older by his red shoes. I don't think they took their loss to you too well, Mario. I'd be careful around them...
  • That's the younger of the Iron Adonis Twins. He and his brother totally hate you. Is it a rule that older brothers wear red shoes and younger brothers wear green?

Spanish Los Hermanos Tachuela The Tack Brothers
French Têtes d'Acier Steel Heads
German Stahl-Brüder Steel Brothers
Italian Los Hermannos Come from the Spanish translation for "brothers".

  • Despite the fact that only the Yoshi Kid's Gulp move can be used to defeat the two, they are only ranked tenth, meaning that everyone over the tenth rank can defeat them. Alternatively, given that Grubba gives the player conditions they have to pass if they wish to fight higher ranks, and it's shown that other fighters, including Sir Swoop, are also subject to this, it's also possible that they aren't meeting Grubba's conditions themselves, and thus could not fight anyone above the 10th rank.
  • It is unknown whether the no partner or no FP conditions can be made for this fight, as this would make the battle impossible without breaking the conditions.
