Stretch Shrooms[1][page number needed] are a type of a Mushroom Platform found in New Super Mario Bros. sub-series.

History

New Super Mario Bros.

Stretch Shrooms first appear in New Super Mario Bros. They only appear in World 5-A, being blue platforms. They shrink and expand periodically, pulling anything on the ends of the platform to the center when they contract.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Stretch Shrooms return in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, behaving the same as in New Super Mario Bros., though they are now colored pink. They only appear in World 4-5.

New Super Mario Bros. 2

Stretch Shrooms reappear in New Super Mario Bros. 2, behaving identically to previous games. They only appear in World 6-3.

New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

Stretch Shrooms appear yet again in New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, as well as the remake for both games. Its behavior is largely unchanged from its past appearances. It appears in Dry Desert Mushrooms and Seesaw Shrooms in the former game.
