Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U
Purple Yoshi makes its Smash Bros. debut in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U as an alternate color for Yoshi. It now wears orange shoes, similar to its appearance in Super Mario Sunshine.
In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Purple Yoshi debuted with purple skin and orange shoes with an orange saddle. In the Game Boy Advance port, however, Purple Yoshi wears pink shoes.
Although Purple Yoshi has artwork for the game Yoshi's Story, and is even in the intro sequence, it is absent. Its artwork depict it with dark pink shoes and a red saddle, which would remain its design from then on, except for Super Mario Sunshine, where it wore orange shoes as the other Yoshis in that game.
