Variant of Ant Trooper

Big Ant Troopers[1] are large enemy equivalents of Ant Troopers. They debut in Super Mario 3D World and reappear in its Nintendo Switch port Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, appearing mainly in World 4-1, Ant Trooper Hill. A lone Big Ant Trooper is also found in a secret room in World 5-4, Sprawling Savanna.

They cannot be defeated with any attack, even if players are under the effects of a Super Star, Invincible Super Leaf, or Invincibility Bell. Rather, they must be jumped on in order for the player to progress.

Big Ant Troopers, along with their smaller counterparts, appear as course elements in Super Mario Maker 2 in the Super Mario 3D World level style. In this game, Big Ant Troopers maintain their immunity to all of Mario's attack options, which includes being unaffected by Super Stars, and even the Super Hammer. However, they can be defeated by using POW Blocks or by being crushed by objects such as Thwomps. They can be given wings and parachutes as well.
