Veil is a move that can be performed by Vivian in the game Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door at the cost of 1 FP. This move's Action Command requires the player to correctly input the indicated five-button combination of 
and 
before the time limit is up. When performed successfully, it causes Mario and Vivian to hide in the shadows for one turn, forcing every enemy attack to miss that turn, similar to Lady Bow's Outta Sight from Paper Mario. Mario and Vivian then return to the battle on the next turn, always leaving Vivian unable to take an action that turn. However, Veil only skips Mario’s following turn if he used his action during the same turn Veil was used. Otherwise, Mario can still use his next turn. Because of this, Veil is primarily suited in dodging charged attacks.
A Stylish move can be performed as Vivian and Mario fully exit the ground, however this particular stylish gives very little Star Power, and if the Stylish move is not performed, the attack gives no SP at all.
Outside of battle, Veil can be performed by pressing 
in the overworld to plunge into the shadows. This can be used to escape from the sight of enemies, overhear NPC conversations, or dodge moving obstacles.
