It has been suggested that this page be split into the following: Spike Bar , Spiked roller . (discuss )
Template:Species-infobox
Spike Bars are spiky obstacles that first appear in Super Mario 3D Land . They are similar to Fire Bars , but with spiked balls in place of fireballs . They are also usually able to be destroyed with certain power-up forms, whereas Fire Bars are completely indestructible. If characters come in contact with a spike bar, they take damage.
History
Super Mario series

World 5-3 of
Super Mario 3D Land
Super Mario 3D Land
Contrary to Fire Bars, which mostly appear in lava -themed levels , Spike Bars are found in a variety of level themes throughout Super Mario 3D Land . One or two Spike Bars can be found rotating around the same axis, but unlike Fire Bars, Spike Bars never rotate on their side. If Mario or Luigi contact a Spike Bar in their statue forms, it breaks and releases several coins .
Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
Objects similar to Spike Bars, known as spiked rollers [1] , appear in Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury . In Spike's Lost City , some spiked rollers roll perpetually on pendulum platforms. In Spooky Seasick Wreck and Gigantic Seasick Wreck , spiked rollers move gently back and forth with the swaying of the large boats. In Red-Hot Run , some spiked rollers move back and forth on their own, while the others rotate in the air as groups of four, around a fixed axis. In Boiling Blue Bully Belt and Broken Blue Bully Belt , groups of two or four spiked rollers rotate in the air around a fixed axis, either horizontally or vertically. In Footlight Lane , many individual spiked rollers roll around circular invisible platforms, in a portion of the level after the Checkpoint Flag . The last group of spiked rollers must be navigated to reach a Green Star Ring and collect the second Green Star of the level. In The Bowser Express and Champion's Road , several spiked rollers swing back and forth on chains.
Spikes attack by producing spiked rollers and throwing them forward, which roll down the path in front of them. All spiked roller varieties can be destroyed by characters if they assume an invincible state, which includes the Lucky Cat , Invincible , White Tanooki , or White Cat Mario forms.
A Cat Spike holding a spiked roller
In Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury , Cat Spikes throw spiked rollers identically to normal Spikes during the "So Close Yet So Far" mission of Trickity Tower . After this mission is completed, if Mario leaves the area and returns, the Cat Spikes will permanently disappear from the area.
Super Mario Run

Super Mario Run
Spike Bars return in Super Mario Run as obstacles in the level Spike Bar Jungle , and are designed to look closer to their original appearance from Super Mario 3D Land , but with extra spikes. This is its only appearance where the bar is connected to a Hard Block with a cog. Albeit indestructible in this game, Spike Bars can be bounced on safely by Yoshis .
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Spike Bars appear in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and its Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS ports .
Mario Party: Star Rush
In Mario Party: Star Rush , Spikes produce spiked rollers in Roller Revenge .
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
A spiked roller can be found at Underwater Village, a location in Spooky Trails from Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle . It is stuck between some plants grown away from the main path. Beep-0 notes that whoever owned the spiked roller left the area quickly, claiming it is "an ominous sign". The weapons Spike Strike and Big Spike are designed after spiked rollers, though their description refers to them as Skewers .
Mario Tennis Aces
In Mario Tennis Aces , Spike produces a spiked roller and uses it to hit the tennis ball in his Special Shot .
Paper Mario: The Origami King
In Paper Mario: The Origami King , Spike Bars can be seen in the Spike's quarters in Bowser's Castle .
