The Shy Guy Galleon[1] is a pirate ship manned by Shy Guys. Its mast features a pastiche of the Jolly Roger commonly used by pirates, with a Shy Guy mask in the center instead of a skull. It first appears in Yoshi's Story in the background of the level Shy Guy's Ship, where it is used to launch Bob-bombs at the Yoshis from the background. It later appears in the background of Shy Guy Beach in Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Mario Kart Wii with some design differences, such as the sail's colors being inverted. In Mario Kart: Super Circuit, it steadily circles the track and occasionally launches cannonballs that disappear in a puff of smoke when they hit the track. If a cannonball hits a racer, they lose some of their coins. In Mario Kart Wii, the Shy Guy Galleon stays moored on one side of the track. It again launches cannonballs at the racers, but here, the cannonballs remain stuck in the ground after landing. They then begin blinking and, after a few seconds, blow up with a big explosion.
