*When the Record Setter was first introduced, a glitch could cause curious problems. If the player raced on a course where it is possible to still be gliding after crossing the finish line and used the Record Setter, doing so would cause the Record Setter's meter to stop and not go up any farther than what it was the moment the player crossed the finish line. On any course, if the player were to turn on the camera feature one they finished and wait until another glider section was reached, the meter would remain at 0 for the whole time the character was gliding. The glitch has since been fixed, with the Record Setter now working normally one the player finished the race.

Appears in Mario Kart Tour

The Record Setter is a High-End glider in Mario Kart Tour that debuted in the Sky Tour. The glider consists of a digital meter with rainbow wings on both sides. The glider is very unique in the fact that the meter measures the distance traveled by the user while they are gliding, similar to the gliding meter seen during Glider Challenges. The meter can reach a maximum distance of 999.9 before stopping. Using Mushrooms will award more points when using this glider. It is currently the first and only item to gain two new favorite courses after being upgraded to level 8.

Trivia

  • When the Record Setter was first introduced, if the player raced on a course where it is possible to still be gliding after crossing the finish line and used the Record Setter, doing so would cause the Record Setter's meter to stop and not go up any farther than what it was the moment the player crossed the finish line. On any course, if the player were to turn on the camera feature one they finished and wait until another glider section was reached, the meter would remain at 0 for the whole time the character was gliding. The glitch has since been fixed, with the Record Setter now working normally one the player finished the race.[citation needed]
