Mario Kart 8[edit]
- “This is a remastered version of the music from the Nintendo 3DS title. It began life as an arrangement of the music for a circuit course on Mario Kart 7. Then while we were working on it, for some reason, we decided to add a particular phrase, and all agreed that it worked pretty well.”
- —Liner notes in the Mario Kart 8 Original Soundtrack
In Mario Kart 8 and the Nintendo Switch port, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as part of the Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 DLC, an arrangement of "Neo Bowser City" plays in 3DS Neo Bowser City. It is an enhanced, remastered version of the original theme, but it uses higher quality samples and slightly different instrumentation. It is titled "3DS Neo Bowser City" or "3DS Koopa City" in the Nintendo Music app, depending on region; the latter name, which is the course's European name, is used in the official Mario Kart 8 Original Soundtrack album, as it was only released in Europe, Japan, and Australia. A looping drum set beat is added to the instrumentation whenever the player is driving at top speed while in first place.
