HistoryEdit

Super Mario seriesEdit

Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic / Super Mario Bros. 2Edit

Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic marks the first appearance of "Boss BGM." When that game was later redeveloped as Super Mario Bros. 2, the theme was given slightly more enhanced instrumentation, which is the version that subsequent appearances of the theme in the Super Mario franchise are based on. The Super Mario Bros. 2 version is also included in the official albums FAMICOM 20TH ANNIVERSARY GAMEMUSIC DVD, Game Sound Museum: Mario Bros. / Super Mario USA, and Famicom Sound History Series: Mario the Music.

The SNES remake of Super Mario Bros. 2 in Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World, and Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition, contains its own arrangement of "Boss BGM," which plays during the boss battles like in the original game.

The Game Boy Advance remake of Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Advance, contains its own arrangement of "Boss BGM," which plays during the boss battles like in the original game. This arrangement plays in a slightly higher pitch, aside from the drums and percussion.
