The New Year's Tour is the eighty-sixth tour of Mario Kart Tour, which began on December 28, 2022 and ends on January 10, 2023. It introduces the R/T variants of multiple returning classic courses, namely GBA Sky Garden, GBA Cheep-Cheep Island, GBA Bowser's Castle 3, GCN Baby Park, Wii Koopa Cape, and 3DS Piranha Plant Slide, making this the first tour since the Vancouver Tour to introduce three or more R/T variants of returning courses, as well as the first tour since the Samurai Tour to only introduce R/T variants and no brand new courses, and the first tour since the Toad vs. Toadette Tour to only feature R/T variants (excluding the battle courses). Kadomatsu also return from the previous New Year's-themed tours, starting from January 1, 2023.
This is the first tour since the Singapore Tour, the first tour of 2022, to feature SNES Mario Circuit 1, making it the classic course with the longest gap of appearances between tours. It is also the first tour since the Samurai Tour, twenty tours ago, to feature DS Waluigi Pinball.
The Coin Rush course for this tour is N64 Kalimari Desert, which was previously the case in both the Wild West Tour and the 2021 Los Angeles Tour. The menu's background features some beanstalks and a Toad House from GBA Sky Garden as the landmark for this tour, which was reused from the Sky Tour.
The Holiday Celebration continues from the previous tour and ends in this tour. The tour features a new set of Premium Challenges exclusive to this tour called the Gold Premium Challenges, which allows the player to fire four golden pipes and receive a total of 42 rubies. Completing all the challenges rewards players with the Gold Hard Hat Balloon. Similar to the New Year's 2022 Tour and the Bangkok Tour, every day of this tour features either the Coins Aplenty or Tokens Aplenty event. Tokens Aplenty will be held on the third and ninth day of the tour (Friday, December 30, 2022 and Thursday, January 5, 2022), while Coins Aplenty will be held on all other days, gradually upgrading over time and allowing players to receive over 20,000 coins by participating every day. The tour also features an upgraded Token Shop with items like High-End level-boost tickets and a golden High-End pipe. Additionally, all Mii Racing Suits in the Mii Racing Suit Shop have a discount on their first purchase.
For the first half of the tour, players can receive the Black Mii Racing Suit and the Purple Dozer for placing high in the ranked cups. The second half of the tour features the ? Block Mii Racing Suit (which returns as a ranked reward for the third time) and Green Toad (Pit Crew) as high placement rewards.
The twelfth set of Expert Challenges was introduced in this tour.

Today's Challenge
Players' most recently used kart and glider are chosen, and favorite and favored ones have extra priority. Opponents are arranged randomly. On day 1 of this tour, players finish a balloon battle in GBA Battle Course 1 in the Mii Cup using the Nabbit Mii Racing Suit for a free pipe launch. Starting from day 2, players have to finish a race in the earliest incomplete course that is not in any of the ranked cups using the driver shown on the course's thumbnail every day to obtain the corresponding reward in the table below. Once all of the courses are completed, the courses are selected at random.
