New York Minute is a race course that appears in the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is an expanded and combined version of New York Minute, New York Minute 2, and New York Minute 3 from Mario Kart Tour. It is the first course of the Turnip Cup.[1]

It is one of two courses from Mario Kart Tour to appear in the second wave, alongside Tour Sydney Sprint.

Course layout

Like Tour Tokyo Blur, this version of New York Minute dedicates each lap to one of the variants in Mario Kart Tour. The first lap is based on New York Minute. All of the racers start the course in front of Times Square, where many sponsors can be seen. Just after the starting line, an arrow field points the racers to the right through Broadway and on a bridge that leads into Central Park. In the park, the road takes a sharp turn to the left and circles back under the bridge where the racers entered the park. After the bridge, the road continues straight until it turns sharply to the right back into the city, where the player has the choice to either continue going straight or make a sharp left. If they make the sharp left, they will make a sharp right immediately after and have the option to use a Glide Ramp while approaching the Empire State Building, which will allow them to get a double Item Box sitting on top of a parked bus. If they continue straight, they will reach an arrow field in front of the entrance to the Rockefeller Center that points to the right. After turning, the paths will join together and pass the Empire State Building and St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan. After another turn to the right that leads onto a straight path with two taxis parked in the middle, another right turn will put the players back at Times Square.

The second lap follows the layout of New York Minute 2. Just after the starting line, the arrow field now points to a sinusoidal curve to the left and then the right through Broadway and a cobblestone path on the left that leads into Central Park. An arrow field will point to the left, making players go through the same path as the first lap, but this time backwards. After the park, the player will make a left turn, where the rest of the lap will play the same as the first one.

The third lap follows the layout of New York Minute 3. all of the racers start the course in front of Times Square. Like the second lap, the road points to the left and then the right through Broadway and the cobblestone path that leads into Central Park. The arrow field there will now point to the right, making players go under the bridge like in the first lap, and then turn sharply to the right back into the city. This time though, a bunch of arrow fields will point the players into the once-blocked Rockefeller Center and allow them to enter 30 Rockefeller Plaza. After a short drive inside on a red carpet, racers follow a tunnel where they can see the Statue of Liberty. After a light turn to the left, they exit the tunnel with the finish line just in front.

Unlike New York Minute 2 in Mario Kart Tour, the Glide Ramp seen in the first two laps does not encompass the width of the track, instead only taking up the left half. Two Water-spouting manholes appear - one is to the side of the bus after the gliding section, and one is along the lap 2 route. Goombas now appear in Central Park. Additionally, the split path with one route facing 30 Rockefeller Plaza and the other going past it, then by it has been opened up, instead of being split across variants like in Tour. Taxis appear along the final portion of laps 1 and 2. The course features numerous more Toads, Yoshis and Shy Guys than its Tour counterpart.
