Urban Stingby: Difference between revisions

Nintendo101 (talk | contribs) (I think the article was making too many subjective assertions about the enemy's design. A lot of artistic liberties are taken with Urban Stingbies, just like normal Stingbies. They are not 1-to-1 with normal mosquitos for multiple reasons (no pupal instar; four legs; two body segments; etc.), and because these are not real animals, there is no reason to think they are not variants of the bee-like Stingbies. (Which themselves look perhaps a bit more like bee flies than true bees?)) |

Urban Stingbies are mosquito-like Stingbies found in the Metro Kingdom and Darker Side of Super Mario Odyssey. Unlike the recurring bee-like Stingbies, Urban Stingbies are of a slightly more realistic design. They were intentionally designed to look more like an endemic species of New Donk City, and less like a cartoonish Super Mario enemy.[1]
If Mario gets close to them as Urban Stingby Larvae,[2] they metamorphosize into adult Urban Stingbies. They then charge at him in a straight line on sight, exploding when they hit Mario or an obstacle. Urban Stingbies are normally found in alleyways in New Donk City in their larval form during the mission The Scourge on the Skyscraper, and also appear in the Darker Side, where they are always found in their adult form. Urban Stingbies cannot be captured, but can be defeated by throwing Cappy at them or attacking them with a jump, which gives the player a coin. While in their larva form, they have no other means of offense beyond metamorphosis, and can additionally be defeated by kicking them away before they transform.
