Lucky Cubes[1] are a variant of Chance Cube that appears in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Lucky Cubes are found only on Starship Mario, where there are two types. The first type is found near the ship's right ear, and this cube can grant a Star Bit or a 1-Up Mushroom. The cube reappears whenever the player completes a mission, and it can be used once each time. The second type of Lucky Cube is found in the sub-area through the Warp Pipe that is in Starship Mario's left ear. Cubes of this type can grant a Star Bit or one, three, or five 1-Up Mushrooms. To use the second type of Lucky Cubes, the player should talk to one of the two Lumalees that sell them. The first Lumalee appears after the player obtains a Power Star in World 3, and this Lumalee offers one Lucky Cube in exchange for 30 Star Bits. The second Lumalee appears after the player completes "The Magnificent Magma Sea," and this Lumalee offers five Lucky Cubes in exchange for 100 coins. Both Lumalees can be used unlimitedly, as long as Mario (or Luigi) has the resources to pay them.
