Whistlestop Summit is the third race course of the Mushroom Cup in Mario Kart World, and is the fourth checkpoint of the Cherry Rally. It takes place on a giant mountain themed after a steam train in the mesa region of the game's map, referred to as the Wilderness Coast. In addition, the train station on the course is named Wilderness Coast Station. At the peak of the mountain, there is a giant train funnel constantly emitting lots of steam. A railway line with active passenger runs all around the mountain. The course features a locomotive resembling a JNR Class C58 branded with "SUNSHINE RAILWAY" labelling. The train serves a similar function to ones seen in past courses, such as Kalimari Desert and Super Bell Subway from Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart 8 respectively.
Kamek will transform racers into either Spike or Goomba in this course.
Course layoutEdit
The course starts out at the bottom of the mountain, where the racers will proceed up a winding road. The railway line next to the road then merges into it as both cross a large bridge and start to climb up the mountain. The road winds up to the top past a large steam funnel, before the road starts to descend down the mountain. The railway line splits off from the road, as the two wind along before eventually reaching the start-finish line.
RoutesEdit
The route between Choco Mountain and Whistlestop Summit has a unique element where the racers are picked up by a tornado and thrown into a gliding section.
Whistlestop Summit can be used as a route to Koopa Troopa Beach. However, the reverse is not true; Koopa Troopa Beach does not have a route leading to Whistlestop Summit. This trait is shared with Koopa Troopa Beach’s routes from Desert Hills and Great ? Block Ruins as well.

ShortcutsEdit
- Players have the option to grind along the railway lines instead of following the road.
- After the second Item Box set, players can cut through the grass. They can also use a Charge Jump onto the left wall, trick off the left wall onto the right wall, then trick off the right wall.
- Players can cut through the grass on the last turn.
- Players can take the last turn tighter by getting on top of the rail on the last turn.
- There is a glitch shortcut exclusive to online races, where players can abuse the fact that Lakitu will not pick up their COM-controlled character immediately after leaving a room.[1] If a player jumps off to the right on the yellow rail after the long bridge and leaves the race before getting picked up by Lakitu, he will not pick up the COM-controlled character that races in place of the player, causing it to skip to the path below. If the glitch is done on the final lap, it will cause them a near guaranteed win unless first place is too close to the place where they end up after the shortcut. This is only useful in online lobbies during the last race due to the player's score resetting when they rejoin.

NamingEdit
The course's English name refers to a "whistlestop": a small, often unimportant, town that is found along a railway, named so because the train conductor would blow the train whistle to signal a stop only if necessary, rather than making a scheduled halt. Outside of English, the course's name makes more direct references to the train.
