Mario Circuit is the second course of the Special Cup in Mario Kart World. The course also appears as the fourth checkpoint of the Golden Rally and the third checkpoint of the Heart Rally. It consists of multiple Mario Circuit tracks from Super Mario Kart combined into one track, being Mario Circuit 1, 2, and 3. Mario Circuit 4 is excluded. This course, like DK Spaceport, Peach Beach, and Rainbow Road, is split into sections. It is the first Mario Circuit in the series' history to be in the Special Cup, and the first classic course to be in the cup if one counts it as such. Kamek can turn racers into Cows or Para-Biddybuds.
Because Mario Circuit is three circuits in one, in a standard race, barricades are set up to transition between the three; this means the course is not technically a complete circuit. However, each circuit can be individually accessed in Free Roam.
Geographically, the course is located directly in between Acorn Heights (to the north) and Moo Moo Meadows (to the south). Signage surrounding the course refers to it as Super Mario Circuit.
Course layout[edit]
The Mario Circuit 1, 2, and 3 sections are driven in that order. Quarter pipes line the sides of the course beyond the offroad sand; these can sometimes be utilized as shortcuts. Between each section is a short transitional road. The road from 1 to 2 consists of a right turn from where 1 otherwise loops around, then a very slight left turn; due to this, 2's first turn is skipped. The road from 2 to 3 consists of a bend to the right (in place of 2's last left turn), then a right turn with a Dash Food stop (the only one of any kind to appear within a course in Grand Prix) that transitions smoothly into the first turn on 3.
The course trim in each section is a different color to further differentiate the three courses. Mario Circuit 1's is green, Mario Circuit 2's is blue, and Mario Circuit 3's is red.
Mario Circuit 1's layout is the same as in Mario Kart DS. Conversely, Mario Circuit 2 is reverted to its original Super Mario Kart layout; as such, unlike in its appearances in Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart Tour, the jump does not have a glide ramp, and the earlier ramp added in those games is not present.[1] Mario Circuit 3 remains practically unaltered, though the narrow part of the straight after the hairpin turn is widened to match the initial part. The oil slicks in Mario Circuit 2 and 3 are also removed.
Routes[edit]
There are four different layouts for Mario Circuit based on which route was used to travel to the track:
- Traveling from Boo Cinema has the race end at Mario Circuit 1.
- Traveling from Dry Bones Burnout, Toad's Factory, or Bowser's Castle has the race end at Mario Circuit 2.
- Traveling from Starview Peak, Dandelion Depths, or Moo Moo Meadows has the race end at Mario Circuit 3.
- Traveling from Acorn Heights, or selecting the track without routes in VS Race, has the players drive on all three tracks sequentially.
This is one of two tracks in Mario Kart World to not be reachable using routes from the next track in its Grand Prix, excluding those that end cups. Coincidentally, the other track is Peach Stadium, the next track in the Special Cup.
