Coins are items that appear in Yoshi's Story. They can be collected for ♥s. Not unlike coins in the Mario franchise, coins in this game can be hidden everywhere in a stage, including in the sky and in the ground. Most of these coins, however, are very easy to acquire. Occasionally, after a Baby Yoshi breaks a ? Block or ? Bubble, five coins with blue shoes appear. These coins act similarly to the Stars from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, as they hop away in different directions after being freed. If the Baby Yoshi can collect all five coins before they disappear, the Yoshi will be awarded a melon.
