One of Naval Piranha's buds

Naval Buds are young Piranha Plant enemies that first appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. They grow out of Naval Piranha, which has two of them. In battle, the Naval Buds move towards Blue Yoshi and leap straight up to hit it; Yoshi cannot destroy them, though they do not pose much of a threat.

In Tetris Attack, two Naval Buds are Naval Piranha's partners.

Naval Buds reappear in Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. Once again, they assist Naval Piranha; this time, however, they are a lot more aggressive.

In Yoshi's Crafted World, Naval Buds assist Spike the Piranha. He sends out large amounts at the Yoshi that follow each other in lines. Additionally, he uses two to drop Spike Balls at them, with their mouths opening like a Party Ball. Finally, he has them sprout out from the ground in pairs to temporarily decrease the size of the stage so he can attack the Yoshi himself easier.
