The Resident Demon will attempt to attack Donkey with its disembodied claws, each hit from this ghastly specter causing Donkey Kong to lose some of the coins he has collected. The Train Ride Specter can not be hurt in any way; Donkey Kong must avoid its slashes and punches by jumping from rail track to rail track. It'll also fire some [[Skull Cart]]s, which carry [[TNT Barrel]]s when Donkey Kong reaches an area with three rails that are next to each other.

The resident demon is a large skeletal demon- or ghost-like Kremling in Donkey Kong 64. Unlike most other Kremlings, the resident demon has no "K" in its name. It can be found in the Haunted Mine Cart Run in the area, Creepy Castle. Donkey Kong is the only Kong who ever encounters the resident demon. The resident demon attacks with its disembodied claws, and if Donkey Kong is hit by them, he loses some of the coins he collected. The resident demon is invulnerable, and Donkey Kong can avoid its slashes and punches by jumping between rail tracks. Eventually, when Donkey Kong makes it to a section of the track with three parallel rails, the resident demon launches several explosive flaming skulls, which cause Donkey Kong to lose three coins if he is hit.
