The Balloon Jump[citation needed] is a move that Mario and Luigi can execute in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its 3DS remake Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. It is similar to the High Jump from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga in that it is used to reach high places that are otherwise unreachable with a normal jump.

The Balloon Jump is learned alongside the Balloon Mario technique at Toadley Clinic after the brothers receive the second Star Cure. When Mario uses a pipe that is dispensing air to balloon himself, the brothers can use this move by pressing B Button with Luigi holding him over his head, jumping higher than they normally can and slowly descending downwards afterwards. Pressing A Button when Mario is ballooned makes him deflate himself, returning him back to normal. When using the Balloon Jump, if they move into a vortex of wind, the brothers will be launched further upwards.

The bros use this technique to catch Birdley in Toadley Clinic, who is flying around the clinic in fear when the ventilation system breaks. It is later used to reach the top of the mountain in Plack Beach, where the Star Sage Chakron resides, so the bros can receive the third and final Star Cure to create the Miracle Cure.
