The player starts on a skull planet with a [[Warp Pipe]] that leads to a cave with the Spooky Speedster. Unlike with the [[A Very Spooky Sprint|last race]], [[Mario]] has to be [[Boo Mario]] in order to race against the Spooky Speedster. By picking up the [[Boo Mushroom]], the player is able to reach the Spooky Speedster and accept his race.

The race takes place throughout the entirety of the cave, which consists of [[bars (Boo Mario)|crystal]] Boo Mario can phase through, fans that push him ahead, and [[spring (Super Mario Galaxy)|spring]]s that bump Mario to the side. [[Coin]]s and arrow signs also line the cave, which shows the player the direction they need to head in. About halfway through, there are moving obstacles shaped like bones. Touching a [[? Coin]] either turns on a fan or produce a line of coins. Reaching the end of the cave before the Spooky Speedster rewards the player with the [[Power Star]], though failing to beat the Spooky Speedster results in Mario losing a life. If Mario wins the race, he can explore the race course and pick up any collectibles he missed before obtaining the Power Star.

Racing the Spooky Speedster is the sole mission of Boo's Boneyard Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy. The mission's objective is to race the Spooky Speedster in a rematch.

Mission[edit]

The player starts on a skull planet with a Warp Pipe that leads to a cave with the Spooky Speedster. Unlike with the last race, Mario has to be Boo Mario in order to race against the Spooky Speedster. By picking up the Boo Mushroom, the player is able to reach the Spooky Speedster and accept his race.
