Spiders[1] appear in the Luigi's Mansion series as a type of pest. They can be found walking on the ground and along walls, or hanging from threads of silk, and can be defeated by sucking them in with the Poltergust or using the Strobulb.

History[edit]

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon[edit]

Spiders make their debut in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. Spiders on the ground randomly walk around, occasionally stopping to raise their front legs and hiss at Luigi if he is nearby. In this game, when Luigi uses the Strobulb on a spider, it drops one coin, except during "Confront the Source," in which spiders yield no coins, as they can respawn. Spiders usually appear in groups of two to five after Luigi finds them. A large spider known as a spider queen is possessed by the Grouchy Possessor, serving as the boss of the Gloomy Manor.

Luigi's Mansion 3[edit]

Spiders reappear in Luigi's Mansion 3. Rather than being red, spiders in this game resemble black widows. If Luigi approaches a spider on the ground, it now completely stops to hiss at him. Regular spiders now drop three bills when defeated, regardless of the method used.
