Variant of Bat

Gold bats[1] are enemies in the Luigi's Mansion series. They behave exactly like regular bats, except they drop multiple Gold Bars upon defeat.

History[edit]

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon / Luigi's Mansion Arcade[edit]

Gold bats make their debut in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon as a rare type of pest. When they appear, they fly in a specific direction before disappearing; they are rarer than regular bats and yield 25 dollars only when the Strobulb is used on them.

Gold bats also appear with the same role in Luigi's Mansion Arcade.

Luigi's Mansion 3[edit]

Gold bats reappear in Luigi's Mansion 3, behaving similarly to how they did in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, with one difference being that, unlike in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, they can drop gold when vacuumed up.

Place the lantern in front of the larger hole reflected in the mirror. The light wakes up a group of gold bats. Wait for the bats to fly up the ledge, then flash them before they escape. When you’re ready, open the door in the east wall and continue to the Deep Hall." – von Esmarch, Nick (March 24, 2013). Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon PRIMA Official Game Guide.
