Piranha Sprouts[1] are Piranha Plants that appear only in Piranha Grove in Yoshi's Story. They look like buds of a Piranha Plant with green feet. Despite this, they only stand in place, turning to face any nearby Baby Yoshi and chomping their mouths when one gets close. Piranha Sprouts, like Piranha Pests, are able to shrink anything that escapes from their mouths, preventing the Yoshis from using Yoshi eggs. The only way to defeat a Piranha Sprout is to shoot it with an egg while the Yoshi is in normal size or crush it with a Bocci Ball.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, these Piranha Plants are mentioned briefly by Viridi in the Palutena's Guidance dialogue for Piranha Plant.
