In the episode "Trucknapper Caper", Donkey Kong Jr. and Bones travel to the American state of Texas on their motorcycle. In the episode "Rocky Mountain Monkey Business", Donkey Kong Jr. and Bones ride through the Rocky Mountains, a large mountain range in the western United States and Canada. In the episode "Amazing Rollerskate Race", Donkey Kong Jr. and Bones go to Mexico City, Mexico to supervise some rollerskaters during a rollerskating race and catch some thieves who were after their skates.

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show![edit]

Because the United States of America is located within North America, all of the live-action segments of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, which are set in Brooklyn, New York, naturally take place there, as well as a few animated episodes. In the episode Plummers Academy, there is an extended flashback of Mario and Luigi at the Brooklyn Plumbers Academy in Brooklyn. In the episode Flatbush Koopa, King Koopa attempts to take over New York City and rename it "New Koopa," with most of the episode taking place in Brooklyn and Coney Island. In addition, the show's opening sequence shows Mario and Luigi in Brooklyn getting sucked down a drain pipe into the Mushroom Kingdom.

The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3[edit]

North America as a whole is featured in the episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, "7 Continents for 7 Koopas." When King Koopa tries to conquer the entire Real World, he gives Hip Koopa control of North America. Hip uses his magic wand to take over all of the TV networks, causing them to broadcast nothing but a Koopathon of himself, and refuses to go off the air unless everyone in North America gives him all the money. Luigi later stops him.

Additionally, several other episodes of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 take place within the United States of America, and therefore take place within North America as well. Hollywood, California is featured in the episode "Dadzilla." Miami, Florida and the Kennedy Space Center appear in the episode "Life's Ruff." The state of Kansas appears in the episode "Mush-Rumors," which also mentions the American states of Iowa and Nebraska. The capital of the United States, Washington, D.C., is featured in the episode "Reptiles in the Rose Garden." Finally, New York City is featured in "Kootie Pie Rocks," and Brooklyn specifically is featured in "Recycled Koopa," "Toddler Terrors of Time Travel," and "Misadventures in Babysitting."

Nintendo Adventure Books[edit]

In the second title of the Nintendo Adventure Books series, Leaping Lizards, it is stated that Luigi once saved Topeka, Kansas from a flood caused by a clog, but Mario later lies to Princess Toadstool and states that he was the one who fixed the clog.

NES Open Tournament Golf[edit]

The United States of America is one of the three levels that are playable in NES Open Tournament Golf. In addition, Mario and Luigi's outfits in the game are based on the American flag.

Club Nintendo[edit]

Cities in North America, namely New York City and Washington, D.C., appear in several comics in the German Club Nintendo series.

"Super Mario: Verloren in der Zeit"[edit]

In "Super Mario: Verloren in der Zeit," Vikings Erik, Baleog and Olaf are teleported into New York while Mario is also teleported to the Viking Age. the Vikings' presence in the city causes enormous chaos until some New York policemen finally arrest them.

"Mario in Mariozilla"[edit]

New York City is featured once again in "Mario in Mariozilla." Kamek casts a spell onto Mario, which causes him to grow to an enormous size. Mario searches for advice from Dr. Light, who lives in the Empire State Building, and accidentally crashes into some buildings and skyscrapers. When he finally reaches Dr. Light's home, Mario climbs up the Empire State Building in order to talk to the doctor.

"Donkey Kong in: Banana Day 24"[edit]

In "Donkey Kong in: Banana Day 24," Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, and Kiddy Kong travel to Washington, D.C. in order to talk to the President of the United States. The President then provides the Kongs with a space shuttle from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

In Mario is Missing!, Luigi visits several cities in North America on his quest to rescue Mario. The cities included vary depending on the version of the game.

In addition to the cities that Luigi can travel to, there are numerous cities in North America that are visible on the Globulator that are not able to be traveled to. These include cities in Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Greenland, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the United States.

Super Mario Bros. film[edit]

In the Super Mario Bros. movie, Mario and Luigi live in Brooklyn, New York where they run Mario Bros. Plumbing. Most of the film takes place in Dinohattan, an alternate-universe version of New York City.

Mario's Time Machine[edit]

Mario travels to several locations in North America in Mario's Time Machine, specifically in the United States. Like in Mario is Missing!, the cities included are different depending on the version of the game.

Mario Party DS[edit]

In Mario Party DS, North America is included on the globe in the minigame Globe Gunners, with Las Vegas, Nevada being featured as one of the many landmarks on the globe that the player battles on.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games[edit]

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games takes place in Vancouver, Canada and includes several real-world venues, including Whistler Olympic Park and Rogers Arena, which was known as Canada Hockey Place during the Olympics.

Mario Kart series[edit]

While not appearing in gameplay, North America, along with Earth's other continents, is featured on the online racing menus in most of the entries of the Mario Kart series that support online play, including Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7, and Mario Kart 8 along with its remake Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Mario Kart Tour introduced new courses based on New York City (New York Minute), Vancouver (Vancouver Velocity), and Los Angeles and Santa Monica (Los Angeles Laps). New York Minute reappears in Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Super Mario Odyssey[edit]

Two of the kingdoms in Super Mario Odyssey are based on locations in North America. First, Tostarena in the Sand Kingdom is heavily based on Mexico and Mesoamerica as a whole. The kingdom is based on Mexico because the director of Super Mario Odyssey, Kenta Motokura, liked the country and his trip there left a strong impression on him.[1] Second, New Donk City in the Metro Kingdom is directly based on New York City. The city features several buildings that are inspired by real-world locations. The explorable area of the city has New Donk City Hall, which is based on the Empire State Building, and a triangular building based on the Flatiron Building. In addition, The kingdom's background contains structures almost identical to the Chrysler Building and the Brooklyn Bridge.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie[edit]

In The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Mario and Luigi initially live with their family in Brooklyn, where they run Super Mario Bros. Plumbing. The final battle against Bowser at the end of the film takes place in Brooklyn.
