Cat Shine Shards are collectibles found exclusively in the Bowser's Fury campaign of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. They essentially resemble a less complex version of a Cat Shine, being red, shaped like a cat's head, and rimmed with gold. However, they lack the pointed decorations along the outside, and the cat-like facial features are depicted as barely-visible indents, as opposed to being gold as well.

Cat Shine Shards are scattered throughout the many islands of Lake Lapcat, either out in the open or hidden away. Collecting all five of them within an area is required to make a Cat Shine appear. In this way, they are similar to Moon Shards from Super Mario Odyssey, or Silver Stars from Super Mario 64 DS and the Super Mario Galaxy games. However, they are displayed at the bottom of the screen, unlike in those games.
