"Main Theme",[2] also known as "Ground Theme"[3] or "Super Mario 3D Land Theme",[1] is a musical theme composed by Takeshi Hama for Super Mario 3D Land, where it plays in most of the game's overworld levels. The second half of the theme incorporates a brief arrangement of "Ground BGM" from Super Mario Bros. 3.

Super Mario 3D Land[edit]

Super Mario 3D Land marks the first appearance of "Main Theme". It is also included in the official album The 30th Anniversary Super Mario Bros. Music. The game also features six additional arrangements of the theme.

A brief arrangement of "Main Theme" plays when selecting the game on the Nintendo 3DS HOME Menu.

Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[edit]

In Super Mario 3D World and the Nintendo Switch port, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, a jazz arrangement of "Main Theme" (specifically the "Candy Land" version) arranged by Toru Minegishi plays in Super Block Land. It is likewise titled "Super Block Land" in the Nintendo Music app and the official Super Mario 3D World Original Soundtrack album.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze[edit]

Exclusively in the Wii U version of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, an excerpt of "Main Theme" plays during one of Donkey Kong's idle animations, where he plays Super Mario 3D Land on a Nintendo 3DS XL.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, a medley arrangement of "Main Theme" in F major and "Beach Theme" from Super Mario 3D Land can play in the 3D Land stage. It is titled "Super Mario 3D Land Theme / Beach Theme" in the game's sound test, and it was arranged by Yuichiro "Jesahm" Noro. It is also included in the official album Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U: A Smashing Soundtrack.

In Mario Party: Star Rush, the original version of "Main Theme" is a playable song in Rhythm Recital.

Mario Kart World[edit]

In Mario Kart World, an arrangement of "Main Theme" based on the version from the "Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary Live" concert series can play in Free Roam. It is titled "Ground Theme" in the game's pause menu.
