Badges in Super Mario Bros. Wonder are collectable and equippable items that are found from completion of a Badge Challenge or bought from Poplin Shops (with the exception of the Standee Shop in the Special World). Prince Florian equips these items to assist the players in courses. Players can equip a badge before starting a course or losing a life. In some courses, Prince Florian will recommend a badge to use. "Prince's Choice", which can be selected by pressing 
on the badge-selection screen, will either choose the recommended badge, or choose a random badge if none is recommended.
The first badge, Parachute Cap, is obtained from Badge House in Pipe-Rock Plateau. The final badge, Sound Off?, is unlocked from first completing the final course in the game, The Final-Final Test Badge Marathon, then entering the Poplin house WONDER? If players obtain every badge, they are awarded one of six medals to their current save file.
List of badges[edit]
There are 24 badges, including nine Action Badges that add new abilities to the characters, eleven Boost Badges that grant passive benefits to players, and four Expert Badges that grant an advanced skill intended for more experienced players (save for the Sound Off? badge, which is purely cosmetic).

Notes[edit]
- Many of the badges are similar to or reference power-ups and abilities in previous Super Mario titles:
- Parachute Cap functions similar to many gliding power-ups and abilities, such as Peach's Floating Jump ability originating from Super Mario Bros. 2, Raccoon Mario, Tanooki Mario, Bunny Mario, Cape Mario, Flying Squirrel Mario, and Peachette.
- Floating High Jump functions similar to Luigi's Scuttle.
- Boosting Spin Jump functions as an airborne Double Jump similar to Daisy's double jump in Super Mario Run, and resembles Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2's Spin Jump.
- Wall-Climb Jump functions similar to the Wall Jump Glitch from Super Mario Bros.
- Crouching High Jump is the same ability as the Power Squat Jump from Super Mario Bros. 2, as well as being similar to the Backward Somersault.
- Dolphin Kick grants the user better swimming speed and control similar to the Frog Suit and Penguin Suit, as well as Toadette and Nabbit's swimming controls in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
- Timed High Jump grants the user the ability to perform a higher jump if they time their jump as they touch the ground, similar to the consecutive Double Jumps and Triple Jumps in many of the 3D Super Mario games and the New Super Mario Bros. series.
- Fast Dash functions similar to the Super Dash in Super Mario 3D World.
- Grappling Vine functions similar to the capture ability for Yoshi in Super Mario Odyssey, where in that game, Yoshi can use his tongue to grapple onto walls.
- Additionally, the badge's ability to let the player cling onto walls is similar to Flying Squirrel Mario's ability to do the same.
- Safety Bounce is similar to Peachette's ability to survive a fall into dangerous terrain by jumping away in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
- Spring Feet is similar to Spring Mario from Super Mario Galaxy, forcing the player to jump infinitely, and granting a higher jump when timed correctly.
- Jet Run makes the player continuously dash similar to the way Mario functions in New Super Mario Bros. 2's Dash Mario courses and Super Mario Run, albeit faster.
- Coin Magnet makes the player attract coins similar to the Super Star's ability in Super Mario Run, though they can still attract coins if they have the Super Star's effect without the badge.
- Jet Run's internal name is HoverBoots, not referring to the player's state of continuous dashing, but rather the small window of time the player can run in midair.[3]
- Grappling Vine is referred to internally as ExActWireCap, implying that its original function was to add a grappling hook to the user's cap, instead of providing a vine-like hook.[3]
- While Mario and Luigi use their actual caps when using the Parachute Cap badge, other playable characters conjure up a special cap with their emblem on it specifically for the ability.
- The Invisibility Badge has a unique interaction in Light-Switch Mansion and KO Arena Fungi Funk, where the course's lights will cause characters to become visible while standing in them.
- The Invisibility Badge also makes bosses have different reactions, such as Wonder Bowser Jr. being confused why he does not see anybody and Castle Bowser laughing at the player and asking if they really thought that badge would fool him.
