If Mario is riding on Yoshi's back and accidentally runs into a Sleepy Boo, he gets flung off the Yoshi, but if he attempts to get back on the Yoshi, he still gets flung off. It is nearly impossible to mount on the Yoshi again after he runs into a Sleepy Boo.

Sleepy Boos,[1] also known as Giant Boos[2] or Big Boos,[3][4] are Big Boos that appear in Super Mario Sunshine, exclusively during Episode 3 of Sirena Beach. Sleepy Boos are stationed in various passages of Hotel Delfino, mostly in the attic, but one is also located on the second floor of the hotel, blocking the sole passage between two rooms. Though Sleepy Boos do not wake up in response to anything, they will do one point of damage to Mario if he makes contact. The only way to defeat a Sleepy Boo and therefore for Mario to bypass it is for a Yoshi to eat it. If Mario touches a Sleepy Boo while on a Yoshi, he will be flung off the Yoshi, but it is very hard for Mario to mount the Yoshi again since he will be too close to the Sleepy Boo.
