Kōichi Yamadera (Japanese: 山寺 宏一, Yamadera Kōichi; born June 17, 1961)[1] is a Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator and singer from Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.[2] He provides the voice of Donkey Kong in the Japanese dub of the Donkey Kong Country television series.[3] During the series' run, Yamadera and Mika Kanai (the Japanese voice actress of Candy Kong from the same show) were married to each other.[4] He would later serve as the commentator in the Japanese version of Mario Kart Arcade GP 2. He also voices various Pokémon in the Super Smash Bros. series.

In relation to Nintendo media, Yamadera has appeared in every Pokémon movie, as well as Mewtwo in POKÉMON Detective Pikachu. Outside of Nintendo media, he has voiced Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop, Beerus in Dragon Ball Super, and Inspector Zenigata in Lupin III since 2011. He is also the official Japanese dub voice actor for Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, and Jim Carrey, in addition to the Japanese voice of several Disney characters, such as Donald Duck, the Genie in Aladdin, and Sebastian in The Little Mermaid.
