Super Mario–related role Nintendo Comics System contributor

George Caragonne (September 16, 1965 – July 20, 1995) was an American comic book writer. An early hire for Valiant Comics, Caragonne heavily contributed to the Nintendo Comics System titles, where he wrote the opening stories for most of the magazine's titles and continued to contribute in varying capabilities to the non-Super Mario titles for the remainder of the label's run.

After leaving Valiant, Caragonne co-founded the erotic comic anthology Penthouse Comix. The initial success of the publication lead to Caraggone becoming embroiled in a number of issues including accusations of cocaine abuse, conflict with other staff, and suspicions of financial improprieties. After being locked out of the office pending an audit of his financial transactions, Caragonne decided to commit suicide, jumping from the 45th floor of the New York Marriott Marquis hotel on July 20, 1995.
