Hideki Sakamoto (Japanese: 坂本 英城, Sakamoto Hideki) is a Japanese video game composer and musician. He is well known for his work in Yakuza 2, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness, and Explorers of Sky, and in the Super Mario franchise for composing the music for the Super Smash Bros. series and the Mario & Luigi series (beginning with Mario & Luigi: Brothership).

Early life[edit]

Hideki Sakamoto was born on October 28, 1973. He began his career by composing music from Shinobido: Way of the Ninja with Keisuke Ito.

Career[edit]

Sakamoto created multiple arrangements for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and composed "Lifelight," the main theme of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He later worked on the music for the Mario & Luigi series starting with Mario & Luigi: Brothership, succeeding Yoko Shimomura.[1]
