Daniel Fernandez Casas is a Spanish comic book artist and character designer. After becoming a bachelor of arts from the Institut Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona, he drew comics for Danish publisher Egmont Group that included licensed properties such as Tom and Jerry and Disney characters.[1] Since 2012, Fernandez Casas has worked as a character designer for television series and films by various studios, including Smallfoot and Klaus through The SPA Studios and The Grinch, The Secret Life of Pets 2, Sing 2 and Minions: The Rise of Gru through Illumination Studios Paris.[1] He was nominated for the Annie Award for Outstanding Achievement for Character Design in a Feature Production in 2024 for his work in Robot Dreams.[2]

Fernandez Casas has worked as a character designer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, both produced by Illumination. He studied Yoichi Kotabe's original drawings of Mario while working on the first film.[3]
