Makoto Ueda (Japanese: 上田誠) is the founder and principal playwright of Europe Kikaku,[2] and a movie writer known for works such as The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl and Penguin Highway. Ueda was chosen by Shigeru Miyamoto to work on the Japanese scripts for both The Super Mario Bros. Movie and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie from Illumination. While the first film was written in both English and Japanese simultaneously, the sequel was written first in English and then rewritten in Japanese, rather than having a simple localization.[3]
