In-game instructions

Big Bug Bash, or Fly Swatter[1], is a Bonus Stage in Donkey Kong 64.

Gameplay

The player controls a fly swat inside a giant barrel. Their objective is to swat a given number of flies with within 60 seconds. If the player unsuccessfully swats a fly, it giggles and flies faster for a few seconds. Each fly usually buzzes around in a circular pattern. If the player does not swat enough flies within the time limit, they lose at the mini-game. If they win, the Kong who jumped in the Bonus Barrel wins a Golden Banana.

Variations

Big Bug Bash has five different Bonus Barrel challenges. The required number of flies to swat increases in each challenge. Just like every other mini-game, the Kongs can replay the mini-game at Snide's HQ after they retrieve all forty Blueprints. Like the other mini-games, the Kongs do not obtain a Golden Banana if they complete the mini-game.
