A Crazed Crate is a not-so-helpful box found in Super Mario 64.

A Crazed Crate is a beige box with the same worried face on each side of it. If Mario grabs a Crazed Crate, the box will bounce around three times in the direction Mario is facing, with the plumber holding on. The jumps will get progressively higher, and after the last jump, the crate will explode and a few Coins will appear. Crazed Crates appear in Big Boo's Haunt, Tall Tall Mountain, and Shifting Sand Land. In all levels listed, only one appears, except for Shifting Sand Land, where there is two. The player should try it once, as it might be helpful.

Several Crazed Crates in Bowser Land.

Many also appear in a Mario Party mini-game called Box Mountain Mayhem where a player has to break all crates to get Coins; however, if he or she gets a Crazed Crate, the player will not get a Coin and may be unable to move for some seconds. They are called Whomp Boxes here.

They return for a cameo in the Mario Party 2 board, Bowser Land.
