- This article is about the enemy from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Luigi's Mansion 3. For other spiders, see Spider.
A spider[1] is a type of ambience enemy in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. If Luigi uses the Strobulb function on a spider, it drops one coin, except during Confront the Source, in which spiders yield no coins, as they can respawn. A gold spider,[2] a rarer type of spider, can be found usually after the player inspects certain furniture. If Luigi uses the Strobulb on a gold spider, it drops one Gold Bar, but he must do it fast, as gold spiders tend to disappear if ignored for too long. Spiders usually appear in groups of two to five, and gold spiders usually appear in groups of two to three after Luigi finds them. A large spider known as a spider queen is possessed by the Grouchy Possessor, serving as the boss of the Gloomy Manor.
Spiders and gold spiders reappear in Luigi's Mansion 3. Rather than being red, spiders in this game resemble black widows. Additionally, regular spiders drop multiple bills when defeated, and gold spiders drop Gold Bars as well as coins.
