Unrevisitable area
In Super Mario games, an unrevisitable area is any location which is inaccessible after a certain point. Unrevisitable areas are primarily found in Super Mario RPGs where the player is automatically taken to such places during the storyline and may contain items or accessories that can be missed. Some platformer games that allow the player to roam on world maps may contain stages that can only be accessed once on the world map, or near the beginning of the game.
Games with a linear and irreversible stage progression, such as Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2, are not listed on this page.
