“Near walls of waves, a fire's place... An eye is there, by earth encased!”
Ancient inscription

The Square Jewel is a special item in Paper Mario: The Origami King. It is located in Scorching Sandpaper East, found within the ruins of the village area. The waves in front of the fireplace refer to the inscriptions seen on the ruins, and note to a "fire's place", of course referring to the nearby fireplace. The inscription also describes it as "earth encased", hinting that it needs to be dug up. To find it, Mario must head to the northeastern area of the village and have Professor Toad dig in the fireplace, revealing the jewel. He must then head to Scorching Sandpaper Far East, enter the tower, and place the jewel in its eye.
